Jaffar Aly

Jaffar Aly (b. 1998, Zanzibar) is a London-based visual artist and anthropologist exploring the grotesque and the surreal through a Black British lens. His work, informed by thinkers such as Sylvia Wynter, Fred Moten, and Mary Douglas, investigates fear, displacement, and the absurd as reflections of social and ontological boundaries. A Goldsmiths graduate with a BA in Anthropology and MA in Art and Politics, Aly has exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery, the Black Cultural Archives, and Mall Galleries. He is also the co-founder of This Is an Art Club, community projects fostering collective creativity and dialogue.
