Donna Maria Taylor is a York based painter and art tutor whose practice spans fine art, theatre design and community arts. Working across acrylic, watercolour and mixed media, she is known for her richly layered depictions of architecture, landscapes and local landmarks, often incorporating collage and printed text to explore the relationship between place, memory and history.
Taylor holds a BA in Multi-disciplinary Design, a Postgraduate Diploma in Theatre Design with distinction, and a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education. Alongside her studio practice, she has worked extensively in theatre, creating scenic artwork for organisations including Leeds Playhouse, York Theatre Royal, the Shakespeare Rose Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
A longstanding advocate for arts education, Taylor regularly leads workshops, classes and community projects across York. She exhibits throughout Yorkshire, including York Open Studios and North Yorkshire Open Studios, and her work is held in private collections across the UK.
