I'm Xi Fang. My head is loud, but words never line up when I try to speak. So I learned that sometimes it's better not to force it.
Instead, I use fabric that wraps around a body, spaces you can walk into, images that look straight at you. Different things say different things. I usually start from a feeling—researching, testing materials, sorting through chaos, then taking it from sketch to finished piece.
I love noisy, happy-looking colors. I think feelings are like kids—clumsy, not knowing how to talk. So I make pictures like that, hoping you'll drop the adult lens for a second and see what we pretend not to care about, and what we pretend is fine.
