Timothy Marvell is a York based artist working across moving image, photography and digital media. His practice explores how light, colour and time can transform familiar objects into something unexpected, encouraging viewers to slow down and reconsider the everyday.
Originally trained as a painter, Marvell brings a painterly sensitivity to composition, atmosphere and colour into his digital work. Many of his projects begin with ordinary subjects which are then reimagined through movement, repetition and shifts in perspective. More recently, he has returned to still imagery, extracting moments from his films as photographs and digital works that stand independently while remaining connected to their moving image origins.
Marvell recently completed an Artist Placement at York St John University and is currently studying for an MFA in Digital Media at Central Saint Martins, UAL. His work has been screened at Aesthetica Short Film Festival and exhibited in York and London.
